Composites

Composites consist of two or more materials that are combined with each other. This method allows the creation of material properties which enable the development of new applications.

In fiber composites, fibers are embedded in one component of the composite, the so-called matrix. The fibers can run in one or more directions and have preferential directions.

Composite layered materials consist of a varying number of superimposed layers. The special type with three layers, where the two outer layers are identical, is also called a sandwich composite.

Core composites are used in lightweight constructions. The core, which fills the space between two cover panels, can consist of a foamed material or a honeycomb structure. The latter is called a honeycomb composite.
